More About the Medical School
Admission to NSU’s DO program is holistic and competitive, assessing both academic and personal achievements. Applicants must submit their primary application through AACOMAS, followed by a secondary application through NSU, with a deadline of March 1.
The program recommends a minimum GPA of 3.0 (both cumulative and science) and an MCAT score of 500 or above. Required prerequisites include courses in biology, general chemistry, organic chemistry, physics, and English, all completed with a grade of C or higher.
NSU also highly values non-academic attributes, including leadership, volunteer work, clinical exposure, and commitment to underserved communities. Letters of recommendation are required: one from a physician (preferably an osteopathic physician), one from a pre-professional committee, or two from science professors.
The interview process is selective, with a focus on assessing applicants’ interpersonal skills, empathy, and passion for osteopathic medicine. NSU employs a rolling admissions process, meaning that early applications are encouraged for the best chance of acceptance. The program seeks candidates who are committed to osteopathic principles and the pursuit of a career in primary care or other fields that align with osteopathic philosophy.
