More About the Medical School
Meharry Medical College has a holistic admissions process that evaluates academic performance, personal characteristics, and commitment to community service. To be eligible, applicants must have a bachelor’s degree and complete all pre-medical course prerequisites, including biology, chemistry, physics, and English composition. The MCAT is required, and scores must be recent (within the last three years).
Applications are submitted through AMCAS, followed by a supplemental application sent by Meharry. Applicants must also provide letters of recommendation, preferably from a health professional advisor or science professors. The interview process is by invitation only and currently conducted virtually. Meharry employs the CASPer test, which assesses interpersonal skills and situational judgment.
Meharry participates in both regular and early decision programs. The regular application deadline is December 15, while the early decision deadline is August 1. Interviews are conducted from September to April, and decisions are made on a rolling basis. The admissions committee reviews each application holistically, considering qualities like leadership, compassion, and a commitment to serving underserved communities.
