More About the Medical School

Admission to the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine is highly selective, and applicants must demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, and a passion for medicine.

The application process begins with submitting materials through the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS) from June 1 to October 1. Applicants must include transcripts, a personal statement, and a minimum of three letters of recommendation. MCAT scores are required, with a minimum score of 508.

After submitting the primary application, selected candidates will be invited to complete a secondary application. The secondary application allows applicants to rank campus track preferences across the three locations (Minnesota, Arizona, Florida), and includes questions about why they chose Mayo and their views on diversity.

Selected candidates will be invited to interview between August and November. Interviews are conducted virtually, and applicants participate in two one-on-one sessions. Admission decisions are based on a holistic review that evaluates academic records, leadership, research experience, and personal characteristics. Initial acceptance offers are extended in February, with an alternate list being used from March to June.
