More About the Medical School

LECOM’s admissions process allows applicants to submit either MCAT scores or an Academic Index Score (AIS). The AIS is calculated based on undergraduate GPA, ACT/SAT scores, and replaces the MCAT for eligible students. Minimum admissions requirements include a 2.7 science GPA and successful completion of prerequisites like biology, chemistry, physics, and English.

Applicants submit their primary application via AACOMAS and must provide two letters of recommendation, including one from a physician (preferably a DO). LECOM conducts interviews on a rolling basis from August through April.

LECOM evaluates applicants holistically, focusing on academic performance, healthcare experience, leadership, and community involvement. The admissions process also values diversity and emphasizes a commitment to serving rural and underserved populations. Early application is recommended due to the competitive nature of the program. Additionally, LECOM provides a variety of educational pathways across its campuses, allowing students flexibility in how they pursue their osteopathic medical education.
